“Birds, the Flowers, and them” is a photography project by SU Yang that focuses on Chinese immigrants being abroad.
While moving to Switzerland back in 2019, the artist started to discover the identities of Chinese immigrants and their community which is not only small but also hidden.
By having many discussions with them, a question was raised: after a long time being away from the place you come from, do you still fully belong there?
After living in another country, even for decades, could you really call it home?
The photographs are about the environment of where they live and their daily objects, widely using the red color as the color of blood and the symbol of China.
SU Yang has created a mood of dissolving abstraction in the air, spreaded with the wind, like seeds of dandelions, like migratory birds.
